Artemis Bridge Spaceship Simulator + Star Trek mod

Post by Vladimir »

Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator

This is a great game that I have on Steam, and have played with friends. The Artemis Bridge Simulator simulates the bridge of a starship; there are stations from Bridge to Engineering. The game is challenging as each station has to work closely with the other, weapons requires sensors to work well, engineering requires to set power levels appropriately in combat or in transit, and the captain has to do his/her job to the best of his/her ability.

PC Gamer did a review on it years ago, titled 'All hands on deck! PCG plays the best Star Trek game you've heard of: Artemis Spaceship'. Its a well written review, on their experiences playing the game.

The review can be found here: http://www.pcgamer.com/all-hands-on-des ... simulator/

The description for the game is:
Artemis is designed for anyone who watched Star Trek and dreamed of what it would be like to sit on the bridge of a star ship.

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. You cannot play Artemis single-player! One computer runs the simulation and the "main screen", while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do, like Helm, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control.

Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room ("bridge") , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn't have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.
Here is a good youtube video about it from TheDevildogGamer:

It's on steam for only $7.00 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/247350/). I have alot of fun on it, but unfortunately have not played it as much as I would like because not many friends play it. Multiplayer works through opening port forwarding through your computer, or through Hamachi (preferable), which works well. But with the Star Trek mod, I'm sure I will be playing it much more.

Artemis Star Trek: TNG Mod

This mod is awesome!! :D I mean, there is nothing better than upgrading this game, with the Starships of Star Trek. The mod can be found here: http://artemiswiki.pbworks.com/w/page/6 ... 0TNG%20Mod

This is the only youtube video I could find of it. I will see if I can make one and post it here:

With not many Star Trek games out there, this is a great game where alot of us in this fleet could work very much together on our Hamachi server in a starship, or several starships, against the Borg and other Federation enemies. We could even create our own scenarios and such!! Anyway, I hope this interests you and hope some of you can join me on it :have_a_nice_day:

I used to play Artemis - it's very cool. At the time it had no story so you had to make your own adventures, is that still the case?

A Star Trek mod sounds like it would be exactly what the devs wanted to do originally.

Indeed, it is the same that you had to make the story; a shell ready to be filled with stories that one would want in it. I just played several hours of the Star Trek mod, I'm uploading screenshots to my Steam account :)

It would be fantastic I think for a few of us who have it play the Star Trek mod and command a starship! I had alot of fun this evening flying a Galaxy class starship it was fantastic (until I got a warp core breach hahaha)

I think it would be cool, having a commanding officer take the Captain's chair and give orders. We could play with multiple ships depending on how many people play.

I wrote a brief guide how I installed the mod. I downloaded it through the .rar manually. You can install through the installer but I cannot guarantee it'll work flawlessly.
How to install the .rar version of the mod

- Download the .rar version of the mod and extract the files
- Copy and Paste the original 'Play Artemis.bat' from your Artemis folder (../Steam/apps/common/Artemis) to back it up.
- Then, copy and paste the mod's 'Play Artemis.bat' from the mod into the main folder
- Go into the extracted .rar, the folder 'dat', then 'Mods', and copy and paste the mod's ST_TNG folder
- Then run Play Artemis.bat in the main folder. When prompted, press the 'G' key to activate the Star Trek mod
- Now run Artemis.exe and it should play the Star Trek mod!
If you want to play single player, you have to make a 'server' and a 'client' running on your computer (because the game is innately a multiplayer game). To do so, I suggest running the server via Artemis.exe in the directory, and then the client through Steam (so that way you have the Steam UI if you wish it)
