Officers, Senators, Councilors, Honored Guests, Enemies of the State,
We are moving closer and closer to the launch of Vanguard Command and with that the first venture outside of Star Trek gaming since this great fleet was founded in 2002. However, this brings us to another issue - one I couldn't address when I was personally notating your ranks for when it comes time to switch as this does not simply effect active officers but everyone. What I speak of naturally: identities.
Established Identities
For many years most of us have had our unique identities on this forum or one of its predecessors and for many years they were rightfully linked to Trek. When you think of Picard you think of not only the Captain of the Enterprise but you also think of one of our founders. When you think of TParis you think of our vibrant [whatever he does] but you can't help but put two and two together to form Tom Paris - helmsman of the Voyager. Even myself who shares a name with a famous Star Trek Captain and who is also very legendary when it comes to Bridge Commander and the Intrepid-class (yes, I had to get that in one last time).
These are some of the established identities that were formed on the basis of this being a Trek community. I mean, who can forget Sisko? Even through his identity crisis he is still to this day the highest holding Battle Report record and that will forever likely be the case.
Nevertheless, times are changing.
Change of Identity
I already informed Costello of this: prior to the launch of Vanguard Command I want to offer each and every one of you the chance to change your identity or to keep it. Naturally, this same offer will extend to those who return from the mass email that gets sent out the day we launch.
So, for those of you who are left, please make your decision now as it will be handled during the transition. Everyone is required to reply: from Cadet to Fleet Admiral. Since this is going into Excel I will make it simple - respond with the following:
Choose carefully. This is a fresh start for everyone. That doesn't happen often. However, your decision will be set in stone.Change Identity [Yes/No]:
New Identity:
That is all.
