Since when have 'professional gamers' been intelligent? From what I've seen of them they speak with a level of intellect similar to that of a donkey with a javelin shoved up its nostril.
The most intelligent man in the universe will fail to beat the best gamer. It doesn't require intellect, it requires playing video games all day every day.

Imagine if they weren't smart enough to communicate with each other.

Rest in pieces, Lady B. Stockholm's second fastest Mercedes. (1984-2012) Every time I outrun an Iraqi in his wannabe BMW M5, I'll think of you.

FPS game don't require that much brain power granted, its mostly about reflexes.
Real good RTS titles however are more advanced than chess and put considerable demands on cognitive abilities.

Apparently you have not played chess against a professional chess player; otherwise you would not write such utter bullshit and actually believe it.Alexraptor wrote:Real good RTS titles however are more advanced than chess and put considerable demands on cognitive abilities.

I do believe the only one who is spouting utter bullshit around here is you.Shroombuck wrote:Apparently you have not played chess against a professional chess player; otherwise you would not write such utter bullshit and actually believe it.Alexraptor wrote:Real good RTS titles however are more advanced than chess and put considerable demands on cognitive abilities.

No where did I say that I have a problem with people enjoying an occasional gaming experience, whether it be Angry Birds or Call of Duty, with friends; my problem lies with people who play video games 24/7 and believe that playing such games could ever be a professional sport.Alexraptor wrote:But then again why am I even arguing with you? Seeing as you are clearly prejudiced and have your own fixed idea of what all gamers are.
One almost wonders why you are even in a Star Trek "gaming" fleet.
Can you honestly show me one so called "gamer" who isn't some foul smelling, socially inept, pathetic excuse for a human being? I'll even award a bonus cookie if you can show me a so called "professional gamer."

It doesn't matter if it's an RTS, FPS or any other 3 letter acronym for genre - it's a video game. There will always be a real-life alternative which requires a higher level of intelligence, reaction time, planning, co-ordination and whatever else.
Video games are an entertainment medium. You can't be a professional film watcher, or a professional book reader - so how the F can one be considered a professional gamer?

There is no game that even remotely compares to grandmaster chess level. Garry Kasparov would have your head for such a statement.Alexraptor wrote: Real good RTS titles however are more advanced than chess and put considerable demands on cognitive abilities.
I'm a professional film watcher, I go to the cinema and don't blink throughout the movie.Video games are an entertainment medium. You can't be a professional film watcher, or a professional book reader - so how the F can one be considered a professional gamer?
